In a move towards promoting women’s safety, Amar Ujala Foundation held a special self-defense workshop for girls at Subhash Public School in Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur. The session was part of the Foundation’s ongoing Aparajita initiative, which focuses on empowering young women.

The workshop was graced by the presence of Babul Verma, General Secretary of the Nunchaku Association of India, who served as the chief guest and instructor. Babul Verma trained the students in various self-defense techniques, including neck gripping, head gripping, and hair gripping, which are crucial for personal safety. He also demonstrated how to use everyday items like a scarf for protection.

Joining him were renowned national-level players Ashutosh Gupta, Palak Diwakar, and Laxmi Pal, who assisted in the training, adding to the depth of the session. Their expertise provided the students with practical insights into defending themselves in potentially harmful situations.

The initiative was well-received by the school’s administration, with Principal Akshay Mishra and Vice Principal Pushkar Pandey lauding the efforts of Amar Ujala Foundation. Both highlighted the importance of such workshops in today’s environment, where women’s safety has become a critical issue.

The workshop not only equipped the students with essential self-defense skills but also boosted their confidence and awareness, making it a landmark event in the realm of women empowerment.
